Optical Power Meter
An optical power meter (OPM) is a handheld device used to measure the power level of optical signals in fiber optic networks. It helps technicians verify signal strength, troubleshoot losses, and ensure proper link performance. Typically used with a light source, it displays readings in dBm or mW.

OPM Avnet VFL‑201
The VFL‑201 from OPM/Avnet is a compact, pen-style visual fault locator that emits a 650 nm red laser at around 10 mW, ideal for tracing fibers and pinpointing breaks, bends, or poor splices. It supports both continuous and blink (2 Hz) modes and uses a universal 2.5 mm ferrule interface compatible with FC, SC, ST, and (with adapter) LC connectors. Powered by AA batteries (or optionally USB), it typically offers ~120 hr runtime, automatically shutting off after ~10 min to save power .

OPM-36
The OPM‑36 is a compact, handheld optical power meter designed for fiber‑optic network testing. It supports seven calibrated wavelengths (850–1625 nm), with a measurement range of –70 to +6 dBm (or –50 to +26 dBm optional), and features high accuracy (~±5%) with 0.05 dB resolution. Built‑in features include USB power/charging, LED work‑light, auto shut‑off, and optional 650 nm red light source for continuity checks.
