Ethernet cables
Ethernet cables are network cables used to connect devices like computers, routers, and switches in wired local area networks (LANs). They transmit data using twisted copper pairs and come in various categories (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, etc.) offering different speeds and bandwidths. Ethernet cables are known for their reliability, low latency, and support for high-speed data transfer.
Category 6 (Cat 6) Ethernet cable is a standardized twisted pair cable used for Ethernet and other network physical layers. It is an enhanced version of Cat 5e, engineered to support higher bandwidth and reduce interference, making it suitable for both residential and commercial networking applications. Cat 6 cables consist of four twisted pairs of copper wires, often separated by a physical spline to further reduce crosstalk and electromagnetic interference (EMI), which can degrade signal quality.
Cat 6 supports data transmission speeds of up to 1 Gbps over 100 meters, and up to 10 Gbps over shorter distances—typically up to 55 meters, depending on the environment and installation quality. It operates at 250 MHz, allowing for faster and more reliable data transfer compared to Cat 5e, which operates at 100 MHz.

These cables are commonly used in structured cabling systems for Gigabit Ethernet, voice, video, and security applications. The outer jacket is available in PVC for standard use or LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) for safer installations in enclosed or fire-prone environments. Cat 6 is also backward compatible with Cat 5 and Cat 5e systems, making it a versatile and future-proof choice for modern networks that demand consistent speed, low latency, and high performance. Additionally, Cat 6 cables come in shielded (STP) and unshielded (UTP) variants. Shielded cables provide extra protection in environments with high electromagnetic interference, such as factories or near heavy machinery, while unshielded types are suitable for general office and home use. Proper termination and installation are crucial to maintaining Cat 6 performance, and when installed correctly, they offer excellent network stability and reduced signal loss.
